When it comes to saving money on energy bills then there can be a
temptation to look at your electricity bill, think it is high and then
spend the next month running round your house making sure that every
light is turned off the minute that it is not being used. However for
most people this is simply not practical to do, and if you have children
it is virtually impossible.
So one option is to actually look at the type of bulbs that you are
using. As an example conventional filament bulbs are actually incredibly
inefficient when it comes to energy usage, and it is for this reason
that many countries are actually outlawing traditional filament bulbs
and forcing people to purchase energy saving bulbs instead.
A
quick look online and you will see that there are several other energy
efficient options available to you compared to traditional filament
bulbs and the halogen lights that you may well be currently using. When
it comes to lighting that uses less energy there are two main options
that you have. The first is LED bulbs and the second are what are
classed as energy saving bulbs.
Whilst LED bulbs are now available to fit virtually any lighting
application that you may have, you may consider them to still be quite
expensive compared to “Traditional” light bulbs. They offer great energy
savings but could cost you quite a bit of money upfront should you
decide to replace all the bulbs in your house with them. The other
solution is to opt to fit energy saving lights wherever possible in your
house, and this is an extremely good idea as they are available in a
wide range of replacement fitments and are low cost to purchase. Indeed
under some government-sponsored schemes you may have even seen these
energy saving bulbs for under a pound at your local supermarket for a
limited time.
Energy saving bulbs thus make good economic sense
to purchase, particularly when you learn that they use around a fifth of
the energy of a traditional bulb and have a life of up to 10,000 hours.
They also give out a very nice looking light, which has a warm feel to
it. They do take a minute or so to warm up and give out their full
energy so they are best suited to applications where they are going to
be on for some time rather than just being turned on and off quickly,
such as in a hall cupboard. Overall energy saving bulbs offer at a very
good reduction in your electricity bill at a very attractive price.
